On-song Webster books semis place

Brian Woods in action
Brian Woods secured his place in the last four

Number one seed Mark Webster cruised into the semi-finals of the BDO World Championship after a thumping 5-1 win over Darryl Fitton.

The victory sets the 24-year-old Welshman up for a last-four clash with defending champion Martin Adams.

Cumbria's Brian Woods also advanced into the Lakeside semi-finals with a 5-3 victory over Scott Waites.

"The match with Darryl was much closer than the final result suggested," Webster said.

"It was a strange game, and I did not expect to win. There were small margins of difference throughout the game - but it was one of those days when I was hitting double tops."

Looking forward to facing Adams, he said: "Martin is a great 'darter' - but he is there to be shot down.

"I am feeling more comfortable with each game I play - and I will just put as much pressure on him as I can."

Woods will face surprise contender Simon Whitlock of Australia in his semi-final.
