Horton comes in just behind Rob Hayles |
A strong sprint finish by Guernsey's Tobyn Horton saw him take eighth place in the 100 mile East Midlands Cicle Classic on Saturday. The full UCI rated International Road Race saw 200 of the top international Road Riders face off. Irish Olympic team hopeful Ciaran Power won the race while Horton was in the main peloton of 60 riders. Rob Hayles from the British Olympic Team finished just ahead of Horton in the sprint for the line. Horton has a reputation for an impressive sprint finish, demonstrated in his wins in the Island Games Criterium and in several races in Belguim where he is based. Allan Renyard who has witnessed nearly all of the islands top cyclists in action said: "Horton's eighth place has to be the best international road race performance by a Guern ever."
