Team Isle of Man set for Junior Tour of Bristol

Jonathan Cregeen

Team Isle of Man, Microgaming's junior team, will compete in the second round of British Cycling's Junior National Road Series this weekend.

After a disappointing first round in Abergavenny they will look to improve at the two-day Junior Tour of Bristol.

Team manager Gary Mazzone said: "They have started to ride better as a team and this weekend will be a big test for them as a unit.

Saturday's first stage covers 117km and is based around a 13km circuit.

The day's racing will take the riders through the Mendip Hills and will have several short but steep climbs on each lap as well as sprint bonuses to compete for.

Stage two on Sunday is usually where the overall winner is decided and what the stage lacks in distance it more than makes up for in severity with five category three climbs, including a tough climb to the finish line.

This stage will take the riders into the Mendip Hills and close to the Cheddar Gorge.

The four-man team will be Jonathan Cregeen, Tom Mazzone, Warwick Sanderson and Alex Haddock.

Gary Mazzone added: "A good result for the team here will put them all in the right frame of mind for the Sleepwell Junior Tour here on the Island at the end of the month."
