McGuinness has 15 TT wins, one more than Mike Hailwood |
Fifteen-time TT champion John McGuinness will be the first rider to set off in this year's solo races. It will be the first time the Morecambe racer will open the event and McGuinness says he is looking forward to attacking from the front. The Honda rider told BBC Isle of Man: "I've started from two and three but this year I will lead them off. "In past races I have led on the road by Glen Helen, so there isn't much difference starting there." McGuinness is competing for the new Honda TT Legends team in the Superbike, Superstock and Senior TT races and the Padgetts Honda outfit for both Supersport events. "I'm really happy with the bikes and the experience in our team is second-to-none, so if we get some luck, I think we've got very good chance of results", he added. The 38-year-old is the second most successful rider in the event's history behind the legendry Joey Dunlop. McGuinness's Honda team-mate Keith Amor will go second, with fans' favourite Guy Martin third, on his distinctive black Relentless Suzuki by TAS machine. Last year's record breaker , Ian Hutchinson, has made the switch from Padgett's Honda to Yamaha but will again be fourth on the road. Seven-time TT winner Bruce Anstey, who has replaced Hutchinson at the Padgett's Honda team, will start fifth with his former TAS team-mate Cameron Donald starting seventh for the Wilson Craig Honda Racing team. Kawasaki have one of their strongest ever line-ups for the Isle of Man event, with Ryan Farquhar (7), Adrian Archibald (8), Michael Dunlop (9) and leading Manxman Conor Cummins completing the top 10 riders. Another notable Manx rider, Dan Kneen, will run at number 15 but switch to number six in both Supersport races. TT 2011 Solo Numbers 1. John McGuinness 2. Keith Amor 3. Guy Martin 4.
