Manx BMX riders compete in British National Series

The event marks the official opening of the 2010 British season

A team of Manx riders gained valuable experience during the opening two rounds of the 2010 British National BMX Series in Somerset last weekend.

Seven riders made the trip to Cheddar to compete against a huge field from all over the UK.

Ramsey BMX Club's Juan Watney said: "This level of competition is vital to the development of our riders and they are improving all the time."

Rounds three and four will be held in Derby on the 14-16 May.

Colin Clague was the best placed Manx rider, recording two sixth place finishes in the 13-15 age group.

Nick Kennaugh raced to a seventh place in the 30+ cruiser class final.

Junior riders Brandon and Tyler Cain, Charlie Gibson and Sophie and Holly Black, gained valuable track experience.

The second round of the Isle of Man series will take place at Ramsey on the 9 May with signing on at 1030 BST.

The club holds practice sessions at the track every Thursday from 1800 BST.
