Dot Tilbury MBE has been selected as one of the first 50 members to be inducted into British Cycling's newly established Hall of Fame.

In 2006, Tilbury was awarded the MBE for her services to junior cycling on the Isle of Man.

"I'm thrilled, shocked and honoured. To be considered alongside Chris Boardman and Robert Millar is just wonderful," Tilbury told BBC Isle of Man.

The induction ceremony will be held in Manchester on 20 February 2010.

Tilbury has worked with junior cyclists for over 25 years and organises the hugely successful Royal London 360 Isle of Man youth league.

The summer league sees over 300 under-16s compete in organised races and travel to the UK to compete.

The success of the series has seen an increasing number of parents getting involved in the sport.

Isle of Man Cycling's performance director, Gary Hinds, said: "The league is the envy of Europe. Dot has a tireless work ethic and fully deserves this accolade."

During her time in cycling, Tilbury has helped hundreds of children take an interest in the sport and has seen the likes of Mark Cavendish, Jonny Bellis and Peter Kennaugh come through the ranks.

British Cycling received over 300 nominations for the Hall of Fame, ranging from riders and managers to sport administrators and volunteers.

British Cycling's president, Brian Cookson OBE, who chaired the panel, said: "The response we've had from the public to the Hall of Fame has been phenomenal."
