Watney happy with Manchester form

Juan Watney
Watney powers his way to third position in round eight

BMX rider Juan Watney was delighted to produce another excellent performance during rounds seven and eight of the National BMX Series.

In hot and dry conditions on Sunday, Watney powered around Manchester's Platt Fields track to record two top-four finishes.

The 22-year-old said: "The course was very technical, I'm made up."

Despite missing rounds earlier in the season, Watney is in sixth place in the Cruiser 16-29 class.

The Ramsey BMX Club rider added: "If all goes well in the final rounds at Bournemouth I'm in with a good chance of finishing fourth overall."

Meanwhile, Matt, Holly and Sophie Black all gained valuable experience in the run-up to the British Championships in Cheddar next month and cemented their places in the series.

The next race on the Isle of Man will be held at Ramsey BMX track on Sunday.
