Isle of Man's Max Stokoe cracks a four through the covers

Manx Under-19s cricket coach Gareth Dawson says the future of the sport on the island looks bright after his team's success in Belgium.

They won five out of six matches in Division Two of the International Cricket Council's European Championships to finish second.

The team were runners up to the host nation and missed out due to a wicket run-rate calculation of just 0.04.

"The performance from all the players was incredible," Dawson commented.

"We can take so many positives from this experience, it speaks volumes about the team that we have come away disappointed not to win.

"The whole team exceeded all expectations and I think we left a fantastic impression on all the nations we competed against."

The Isle of Man team recorded victories against, France, Italy Israel, Gibraltar and Germany all of which are Associate Status countries, before losing to the hosts in the final match of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the island's Under-15 team will travel to Italy on Sunday to compete in Division Two of the ICC European Championships.
