Kennaugh has won European and World track golds |
Peter Kennaugh was involved in a high-speed crash in the Men's Madison final at the Track World Cup on Sunday. The accident occurred when several teams clashed at the end of the home straight with about 12 laps to go. Kennaugh hit the deck hard and collided with the railing but, with expert help from the Team GB doctors, he was able to walk off the Copenhagen track. The 19-year-old said: "Usually when I crash I get straight back up again, but I was really worried about my leg." "I've broken my collarbone in a crash before and it was a similar feeling to that, so I 'm quite shaken up." Before the crash, the GB pairing of Kennaugh and Rob Hayles had been going well but were not in a medal place. The 100% ME pairing of Mark Christian and Luke Rowe did not manage to score enough points to get into the final.
