Shock defeat for Ian Bond by Robert Paxton

Ian Bond
Bond has previously won three world titles

Ian Bond suffered a shock defeat in round two of the Scottish International Open, losing to fellow Devonian Robert Paxton in straight sets 8-6 10-4.

This result is the first time Bond, who is the seventh seed, has lost to Paxton in an indoor singles match.

Bond and Paxton are both members of the Exonia Bowling Club in Exeter.

Paxton will now go on to play in the quarter-finals of the tournament, which is being held at the Dewars Centre in Perth, Scotland.

In June, Bond was crowned the World Matchplay Champion, after beating Jason Greenslade by two sets to one in the final in Sheffield.
