Alex Marshall became the top seed to fall after the second day of the Scottish International Open following his defeat by John McCullough. The Irish qualifier beat the fourth-seeded former world champion Scot 8-5 1-10 2-1 at Dewars Centre, Perth. There was joy for the host nation as Stewart Anderson ousted 12th-seeded Welshman Robert Weale 12-3 10-10. And top seed Paul Foster won a nail-biting battle against English qualifier Glenn Skipp 5-7 12-5 2-1. On day one, another top Welshman fell, with fifth seed Jason Greenslade losing to Canadian qualifier Jamie Macgowan 8-7 3-9 2-1. English qualifier Rob Paxton defeated 14th seed Kelvin Kerkow, of Australia, 6-6 8-6. However, English seeds Mervyn King, Billy Jackson, Ian Bond and Andy Thomson all progressed.
