Merrien is a former world number one |
Guernsey's Alison Merrien is through to the final of the World Matchplay Championships in Norfolk after a straights sets win on Wednesday. Merrien displayed both her trademark aggression and finesse to beat Wales' Kerry Packwood 11-6 10-3. Merrien told BBC Guernsey: "I started off a bit rough at the first end but managed to settle into the game. "I have never won this tournament before so I'd like to add it to my list of titles." Merrien will now face either Debbie Stavrou or Dee McSparran in the final on Thursday.
