Merrien became the world number one in April |
Guernsey bowls legend Alison Merrien has said her slip to number two in the world rankings, which were released this month, was entirely expected. Merrien dropped behind New Zealander Val Smith after the Guernsey player's ranking points from last year's Champion of Champions victory expired. Merrien became the number one ranked woman in the world in April 2009. "It wasn't a big surprise for me," Merrien said. "I wasn't at the event I won two years ago so I lose points."
