Burchell first signed for the Raiders in 1999

Plymouth Raiders forward Jamie Burchell is returning to the first team next season after spending last year with Raiders II.

Burchell, 29, who has been at Raiders since 1999 and is now working as head of development, said he was delighted to be back in the elite squad.

He said: "I don't intend to be on this team solely as a practice player and I've worked hard to get into shape.

"Hopefully I will carve out a role for myself out on the floor this year."

Raiders coach Gary Stronach believes Burchell still has the ability to make an impact in the British Basketball League.

Stronach said: "Jamie took a back seat last season because of his work as head of development, but he still had a quality season in Division Two.

"I'm delighted to have him back with the BBL team and I know he has been working really hard during the summer."
