BBL Championship contenders Everton Tigers suffered their third straight defeat against Guilford Heat on Sunday as their recent slump continues. The Tigers ended up at the wrong end of a 90-74 scoreline. "We didn't play well at all," Tigers director of basketball Henry Mooney told BBC Radio Merseyside. "I think we missed Richard Midgley - he seems to be the leader for our team. We started poorly and got so far behind we couldn't get back in touch." At this stage in the campaign the Blues wanted to put themselves out of sight at the top of the BBL Championship. But instead they are attempting to sort out the continuing issue of starting games very slowly. "It's one of the things we didn't want at this stage in the season," Mooney continued. "We start slowly and then we're playing catch-up for the rest of the game. We got away with it except for the two games against Newcastle and now this one against Guilford. "Now we're looking to bounce back against the London Capitals on Friday. They're at the bottom of the league so we hope to get back to winning ways against them."
