BBL: Everton Tigers v Guilford Heat Venue:Greenbank Sports Academy Date: Sunday, 01 March Tip-off: 1830 GMT
Everton Tigers are aiming to bounce back from their BBL Cup exit at the hands of Newcastle Eagles with a win against Guildford Heat on Sunday. Tigers director of basketball Henry Mooney told BBC Radio Merseyside his players are keen to keep pace with Newcastle at the top of the BBL. He said: "The cup exit is either a kick up the backside or we can lull on it. "Tony Garbelotto has got them re-motivated and we're looking to get back to winning ways against Guildford." Mooney is looking for his side to fire on all cylinders from the tip-off as he believes having to chase games recently, as they did in both legs of their BBL semi-final against Newcastle, has taken a lot out of his players. | Guilford are no mugs, we've played them once this year and it was close |
"We have a tendency in most games to play catch-up and it takes a lot out of the guys," he said. "We have to get in front and stay in front from the beginning." Guildford have a match at Newcastle on Friday night, while Tigers do not play until the two sides meet at the Greenbank Sports Academy on Sunday. Mooney is still anticipating a tough contest. "It's going to be tough for them but hopefully they can do us a favour up at the Metro Arena," he added. "Guildford are no mugs, we've played them once this year and it was close."
