Harker wants big Wolves effort

Skouson Harker takes some of the blame for his team's poor results

Worcester Wolves will aim to avenge October's home loss against Newcastle Eagles when they host them again on Sunday (1600 GMT).

Having seen his team lose at Plymouth last week, player-coach Skouson Harker wants an improved performance.

"We shot poorly," said Harker. "At times we looked great, and then we tend to go away from what is working.

"I am partly to blame for this as I need to reel in the guys and myself at times, but as a whole we played OK."

Harker is confident that the Wolves can still make the play-offs

"We are far from out of this thing," he said. "And we will continue to fight and scrap.

We have too many guys that think points, rebounds and assists are all that make up a win or a loss

"But, right now, we're still missing an element that is just down to heart, guts and effort.

"We continue to let guys drive down the lane, and we play what I call 'Matador' defence, jumping in the air, taking a half-hearted swipe at the ball, and letting the opposition score float by and easy two.

"Right now, as a unit, when we see a loose ball rolling we stand and watch.

"With where we are in the table this attitude is simply not acceptable.

"These sort of plays would be a good indicator as to why we're where we are.

"We have too many guys that think points, rebounds and assists are all that make up a win or a loss.

"I hope they're being educated this season to what it really takes and I hope we can find out the true formula to results."
