Wellington out for rest of season

Leicester Riders head coach Rob Paternostro has confirmed that forward Rod Wellington will miss the rest of the season due to injury.

Wellington, 30, has missed the last two months because of a knee problem and now faces surgery.

Paternostro told BBC Radio Leicester: "Right now he's not with us and he hasn't been in my plans because he hasn't been around."

Riders face British Basketball League leaders Scottish Rocks on 31 January.

Paternostro said he has also had to deal with some more injury problems: "Tony Windless sat out our recent Trophy games because of a thigh injury but he's back in training.

"LaTaryl Williams is coming back from an ankle problem and Phil Missere lost a tooth in the game at Cheshire Jets but both should be fine."

And the Riders coach has not ruled out the possibility of adding to his squad before the end of next month's transfer deadline.

"We still have an American spot free and I'm always looking, but the budget is an issue, so we'll have to see if anything is possible."

After the home match against the Scottish Rocks the Riders travel to bottom side London Capital on 1 February.
