Riders squad suffer illness blow

LaTaryl Williams
Williams is confident the squad will weather the storm

The Leicester Riders squad has been hit by illness ahead of their weekend games in the British Basketball League.

Riders' guard Matt Martin and forward Phil Missere have both been unable to train for the past few days.

And Leicester head coach Rob Paternostro is also ill, which meant captain Rod Wellington had to take training on Wednesday night.

Leicester face Worthing Thunder at home on Saturday and then travel to play MK Lions on Sunday.

Riders guard LaTaryl Williams told BBC Radio Leicester: "A couple of guys have got colds and the flu, so we have to weather that storm before our game on Saturday.

"You've got to take care of your body and you've got to play through the sickness and some injuries - it's just part of the game."
