Love will begin his 13th season with the Raiders |
Plymouth Raiders have agreed a new deal with point guard Gavin Love for the 2008-09 season. The 30-year-old, who broke the club appearance record last season, will begin his 13th season at the Pavilions. Love spent the first half of last season on the sidelines because of an ankle injury. "He's a big part of the Raiders, and been with us for a long time," said head coach Gary Stronach. "If you cut him, he'd bleed green," he added. "Gavin still has a little way to go to recover fully from his injury and by the time the season starts he should be there or thereabouts." Love's best performance last season came away at Birmingham where he hit nine three-pointers as he scored 34 points. He feels the most important thing for him is to ensure he is in the best form he can be for the beginning of the season. "I want to spend the summer getting myself in shape. I want to prove that players can come back from injuries like mine, and make a meaningful contribution to teams," Love said. He is the fourth player to commit to the Raiders for next season following Terrence Durham, James Noel and Anthony Martin.
