Noel has agreed a second year at Plymouth (Plymouth Raiders) |
James Noel has opted to stay with the Plymouth Raiders for the upcoming British Basketball League season. The 25-year-old British forward was the Raiders' player of the month in April and averaged 6.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He joined the Raiders at the beginning of last season after a year with Worcester Wolves. "Getting James' signature on a contract for next season was really important for us," said head coach Gary Stronach. Noel impressed when stepping in for DeAntoine Beasley towards the end of the season after the American suffered a shoulder injury. He scored 24 points and 14 rebounds as the side beat Milton Keynes Lions in April whilst Beasley was out. "I don't think anyone could fail to have been impressed with his performances towards the end of the season, especially at home against Milton Keynes when he had one of his best games of the season," added chief executive Dave Briggs. And Briggs confirmed that he hopes to announce the signings of a host of new and returning players in the next few days and weeks. "We are working hard behind the scenes to return as many of last years team as possible and look forward to making more announcements as the weeks go by."
