Jersey's Elizabeth Cann has won the Badminton Writers' Association 2012 England Player of the Year award. The 31-year-old England number one won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October. She received the honour at the annual awards lunch at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. The award comes as a boost to Cann, who recently crashed out of the Yonnex All-England Championships at the first round stage.
