Olver won the Australian International earlier this year |
Eastbourne's Heather Olver has admitted she has a hard act to follow in replacing Donna Kellogg to become Anthony Clark's partner. European mixed doubles champion Clark teamed up with 23-year-old Olver last month after long-serving partner Kellogg's retirement. Olver told BBC Sussex: "Some big shoes to fill there. "It's going ok, he's being patient with me so that's good. It seems to be going well at the moment." Olver added: "It's going to take a little time to know what shots he's looking for and what shots I'm looking for. "He's a left-hander and I've never played with a left-handed guy so that's also a bit different. I think it can work in our favour as well." The pair have started well, beating Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Kostiuczyk over three sets at the Malaysia Open. They now travel to Manchester to compete in the National Championships and Olver admits that it will be a test of their new partnership. "A bit of pressure, maybe, because he's won the last couple of years running," she said. "I'm more excited to see if we can win it this year. It'll be good to see where we are within the national rankings. Obviously we can't expect too much because we've only just started playing together."
