Guernsey could join either the South East or South West Conference

Guernsey's American football team could be playing in the British American Football League next year, according to their coach Steve Rains.

The team has been given associate member status of the BAFL for 2009.

"The task for us is to play at least two games observed by the league to satisfy them we can put on a game," Rains told BBC Guernsey.

If they put on the games successfully the side will be admitted into Division Two of the BAFL in 2010.
