Jersey needed five sets to get past Stowmarket in the National Plate |
Jersey's men's team are through to the semi-finals of Volleyball England's National Plate. The island beat Stowmarket 25-19 23-25 16-25 25-22 15-7 at Haute Vallee to get into the last four. It was the first ever national championship match to be staged in the island as Jersey prepares to go to the Island Games this summer. "We probably should have won it a little bit more comfortably," coach Lee Ingram told BBC Radio Jersey. The island won the first set, but then lost the next two and needed a win in the sudden-death fifth set to make it through to the semi-finals. "They're a very good team Stowmarket, I think we under-estimated them a little bit, but we came good in the end," Ingram added. And Ingram's side, which features players from six different nations, face a long journey for their semi-final match. "We think it'll be against Middleborough, so it'll be a big trip up there and we're thoroughly looking forward to it," he added.
