Guernsey's and Jersey's volleyball players battled out a 2-2 draw in their inter-insular match.

Guernsey Ladies A and B sides both won their matches in straight sets over their Jersey opponents.

But Jersey's men proved too strong and took their two A and B games, also in straight sets.

Visiting referee Pete Parsons was impressed with the level of volleyball: "These matches would not have been out of place in the National Divisions."

Guernsey player-coach Ben Hill said that both the island's men's and women's teams could be proud of their performance against one of the strongest sides Jersey have fielded in a long time.

"Their extra runs of four to eight points got on top of us, but we attacked and defended as well as we could against their standard of play," he said.
