Table tennis team win promotion

Guernsey's table tennis team has won promotion from the British Table Tennis League Division Two South.

The island side of Phil Ogier, Scott Romeril, Gary Dodd and Olly Langlois beat rivals Mossford 3-1 to secure a spot in Division One South next season.

After Guernsey went 1-0 down, captain Ogier said he had to rally the side.

"We still had a good chance to win the league and we had to make sure we performed in the other three matches," he told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"There was some negative talk at lunchtime on the Saturday and the usual bit of self doubt creeping in. But it's part of the captain's job to try and talk it up and make sure everyone was positive.

"We hadn't blown it, and that's how it turned out, which was really pleasing from my point of view," he added.
