Garland won gold with Great Britian at last year's Championships |
Guernsey's Dale Garland says he is ready to race for Britain in the 4x400m relay at next month's European Indoor Championships in Turin. The Birchfield Harrier was part of the Great Britain relay team which won gold at the same event last year. "When you're running indoors it's two laps as opposed to one and the second lap," he told BBC Guernsey. "In the relay it becomes even more important to get in front early," the Bath-based 28-year-old added. "You'll see a lot of teams putting their best runner on the first leg to get out in front and stay out of trouble. It always makes good watching but it's always a bit nerve-wracking for those running." Garland was selected for the 4x400m relay squad for last summer's Olympics in Beijing, but did not make it into the final four.
