Youngsters from Jersey's Special Gymnastics club had a successful weekend at the Poole Open in Dorset.

A number of the club's junior gymnasts experienced their first taste of competition on the mainland, and came away with a collection of medals.

Brother and sister Matthew and Alexa Kirkland topped the medal haul, sharing six gold medals.

Alexa competed in the Under-12s level two competition and Matthew in the Under-12s level one competition.

Amongst the other winners were Aaron Bonnar and James Lang.

Bonnar won two silvers and a bronze, while Lang came home with two bronze medals.

The trip was funded with the support of a grant from the Sports Advisory Council and the Flybe Island Heroes Bursary.
