Mont a l'Abbe Gym Club may move to St John's recreation centre |
Two possible new homes for Mont a l'Abbe special gymnastics club have been put forward by Jersey's Education, Sport and Culture department. The school is being forced to vacate its home at Mont a l'Abbe school in September once building work begins. ESC Assistant Director Derek de la Haye says one of the options is to use St John's recreation centre. "They can use those facilities mostly during the summer period," he told BBC Radio Jersey. De la Haye is also looking at ways of allowing the club to use the facilities at the island's largest leisure centre, Fort Regent. The Regent Gymnastics Club already uses the Queen's Hall for training and competitions, while Mont a l'Abbe also use the hall for their big events such as the annual Disabled Games. Mont a l'Abbe has trained a host of gymnasts with learning difficulties to national and international success, including a gold medal at the Special Olympics World Games in 2003 for Andrew Le Seeleur.
