Beckie Herbert has been selected for two friendlies against Scotland |
Jersey hockey player Beckie Herbert has been named in England's squad for two friendly matches against Scotland. The two games will allow the selectors to assess their options ahead of the the Champions Trophy in July and the EuroHockey Nations in August. Herbert, 22, has over 40 caps and is one of the most experienced players She said: "It's quite funny actually. I'm the same age as most of the new girls but I see it as a positive thing, I quite like the extra responsibility." Herbert is looking forward to playing with the England team again. She added: "I've had a pretty different year to the rest of the girls having played most of the season with my club side Kampong in Holland, so it will be good to have a proper run around with the squad." The two matches take place at Belle Vue in Manchester on 23-24 May. And England coach Danny Kerry said: "These uncapped matches against Scotland come at a timely point in our preparations for the summer and beyond."
