Heavy afternoon rain caused the postponement at Crossmaglen |
The Allianz NFL game between Armagh and Dublin will be played on Sunday 13 April after the GAA opted against staging the match next Wednesday. On Monday, the GAA provisionally re-arranged the game for the mid-week date but this would have left the sides playing three matches in eight days. The Down v Limerick Division 3 game will also be played on 13 April. As a result, the final round of Division 2 and 3 games have been put back to 20 April. This decision was taken so that no other teams would have an unfair advantage in the concluding round of games as the various promotions and relegations from the two divisions are decided. Both the Armagh v Dublin and the Down v Limerick games will have 1430 BST starts on 13 April.
The Armagh v Dublin game will be all-ticket but there will be no charge for the tickets. Tickets will be distributed through the participating counties only.
The finals in Division 1, 2, 3 and 4 will go ahead as scheduled on 27 April unless there is a need for a play-off in Division 2. In the event that a play-off is required, it will be played on 27 April with the Division 2 final then scheduled for the weekend of 3 May. On Monday, the GAA defended the late decision to postpone Sunday's Allianz NFL clash at Crossmaglen. The game was called off less than an hour before the scheduled throw-in because of a waterlogged pitch and over 1,500 fans were already in the ground. Those fans did not get a refund but a big crowd can be expected at the all-ticket refixture - given that tickets will be free of charge.
