Paul McGrane will miss Armagh's crucial Allianz NFL Division Two game against Roscommon at Crossmaglen on Sunday after being handed a one-month ban. McGrane had been facing a two-month ban after being sent off by referee John Bannon for a striking offence in the league defeat by Monaghan on 2 March.
However, the GAA's Central Hearings Committee ruled that the offence was not as serious as initially deemed.
McGrane will be eligible for the NFL game against Dublin on 30 March.
Armagh officials had been hoping that McGrane would be cleared of any wrongdoing.
They maintained that he had accidentally made contact with Monaghan's Eoin Lennon after attempting to disentangle himself from an illegal challenge.
Armagh did submit video evidence as part of McGrane's defence but it is understood that the pictures were not entirely conclusive.
Peter McDonnell's side won their league opener against Cavan but after being well-beaten by Westmeath, they were then edged out by Monaghan by a point at Clones.
After the games against Roscommon and Dublin, they will face Meath away on 5 April before their final section clash at home to Cork on 13 April.
