Mayobridge power past 'Ford
Benny Coulter is one of the big hopes of Down football

Holders Mayobridge proved too strong for Bryansford in Sunday evening's Harp Lager Down Senior Football Semi-Final at Hilltown.

The Bridge defeated the Newcastle side 1-15 to 2-7 to earn a final meeting against either Liatroim or Rostrevor.

Simon Gribben's two first half goal helped Bryansford to a 2-3 to 0-7 interval lead against Mayobridge but the Newcastle team had to play the second period without Gareth Toner.

Toner was dismissed on the stroke of half-time after picking up his second booking.

The sending off proved crucial and with county stars Mickey Linden, Michael Walsh and Benny Coulter all contributing, Mayobridge pulled clear in the second half.

Ronan Sexton scored Mayobridge's goal in the second period.

Rostrevor and Liatroim will replay the second semi-final on Saturday evening.

In Sunday's Harp Lager Fermanagh Football Semi-Final, holders Enniskillen defeated Derrygonnelly 1-16 to 0-8.

Ronan McCabe scored 1-6 for the winners while Paul Brewster also performed impressively.

Enniskillen will meet St Patrick's in the Fermanagh decider next month.

St Patrick's defeated Belcoo 2-15 to 1-11 in Saturday's semi-final at Enniskillen.

Liatroim produced a late fightback to force a 1-11 to 1-11 draw in Saturday evening's Harp Lager Down Football semi-final against Rostrevor at Newcastle.

Rostrevor led by 1-11 to 1-5 with 12 minutes of normal time left.

However, two points apiece from Liam Doyle, Patrick Pearse McCartan and Aidan O'Prey earned Liatroim a rematch.

O'Prey's injury-time equaliser was tinged with controversy as Rostrevor felt that the shot had gone wide.

There had also been suggestions that an earlier O'Prey point had also been a wide.

Rostrevor hit the opening five points with former underage star Aidan Cole notching all the scores.

However, Patrick Pearse McCrickard combined well with O'Prey to rattle the Rostrevor net in the 20th minute to get Liatroim back into the game.

The goal helped level the scores at the interval (1-4 to 0-7) with McCrickard having grabbed 1-3 of Liatroim's total.

Rostrevor regained the initiative in the third quarter with Martin Sherry scoring a great individual goal for his side.

However, Liatroim fought back from the six point deficit to force the replay.
