Dublin win Leinster title
Dublin's Colin Moran runs into trouble during the Leinster final
Kildare's Kenny Duane tries to stop Colin Moran
Dublin 2-13 2-11 Kildare

Two goals in a dizzy one-minute second half spell saw Dublin collect the Leinster Senior Football title in front of 78,000 spectators at Croke Park on Sunday.

It was Dublin's first title since 1995 and one which they so deserved after a tremendous comeback.

Kildare had shocked the Dubs with their industry up until the 55th minute.

Two goals from Tadgh Fennin had pushed Kildare into a handy and deserving 2-8 0-12 lead.

Inspired

But first Alan Brogan poked in goal number one after a sidestep eluded two defenders.

Then Ray Cosgrove was put through within 50 seconds and he rattled the back netting with a wonderfully-rifled shot into the corner.

From then on in Kildare had trouble gaining possession and Dublin gradually started to hammer in the nails to gaurantee success.

In front of an frenzied record crowd in the new stadium at HQ, Kildare had given Dublin a real scare.

But when the game's first half star Dermot Earley found himself subdued, the game turned towards Dublin.

It was Earley who had inspired Kildare in the opening period with a tremendous performance as he controlled midfield.

Dublin, though, had taken a 1-5 to 0-9 half-tiome lead, although Fennin's second effort gave Kildare the initiative again.

But then came that dramatic spell midway through the second half that was to turn the game around, and victory for Dublin.
