British champion Harris skippers Coventry Bees |
Cornish speedway rider Chris Harris has recorded Britain's best finish in the World Championships in 10 years. The Coventry Bees skipper finished in joint sixth place after taking second place in Saturday's Polish Grand Prix. Truro-born Harris got a flying start in Poland but was denied a gold medal after Sweden's Andreas Jonsson passed him on the third bend to claim victory. But the British champion's 13-point haul was enough to land him his highest ever finish in the World Championship. The British speedway champion finished tied for sixth with American Greg Hancock. It is the highest finish by a Briton since Mark Loram won the title in 2000.
