Coventry Bees skipper Chris Harris won his first British title in 2007 |
Coventry Bees captain Chris Harris successfully defended his British title at Wolverhampton on Monday night. The Bees skipper pipped former team-mate Scott Nicholls to the crown, to earn his third British title win. But Harris only qualified for the final race-off after crashing a couple of times during the meeting. Coventry rider Ben Barker finished an impressive third, but fellow Bees rider Edward Kennett just missed out on a place in the last four. Harris told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "I've done it the hard way with two crashes. but it's paid off in the end. "I knew if I could get to the final I could do it and, same as last year, I had third choice of gate - gate three - and I made it count. "It's the national title and I wanted to keep it and that's what I came here to do."
