Eastbourne rider Matej Zagar is in his first season with the Eagles

Eastbourne Eagles co-promoter Trevor Geer says he is looking to upset Elite League leaders Poole Pirates on Wednesday in the Elite League.

The Eagles will then travel to Ipswich Witches on Thursday.

Geer told BBC Sussex: "Poole have been riding extremely well and hardly any away teams have scored more than 30 points there.

"We've had some good results down there in recent years. If we can go there and shock them that will be good."

He added: "They seem to have a team of seven really good riders. But we have got some riders who do like their place and we could surprise them."

The Eagles are still searching for an away victory and Geer is hoping to pick up points to sustain their aim of a play-off place.

"We've had some tough fixtures away from home. There's a lot more to come from us this year," he added.

"Let's hope we can pick up a few points and come back to Eastbourne and start performing well there. There's plenty of room for improvement."
