Stead won three of his four races in picking up ten points for Swindon |
Swindon romped to their biggest win of the season as they beat Ipswich 64-28 at the Abbey Stadium on Thursday. Six of the Robins seven riders were paid for double figures, while Richard Sweetman scored five on his home debut. The win moves Swindon back to the top of the Elite League and they have a one point lead over Wolverhampton, having ridden one extra meeting. "The team's performance against Ipswich was awesome," Swindon rider Simon Stead told BBC Wiltshire. "Ipswich have got some really good riders and they didn't just roll over and die." The meeting was never much of a contest after the Robins jumped to a maximum 30-6 lead after the opening six races. Swindon manager Alun Rossiter was full of praise for his team. "You can only beat what is in front of you, and we did the job so I was really pleased with the boys," he said. Ipswich only provided two race winners all night, with Piotr Swiderski top scoring with a paid 10 points from his five rides.
