Klaus Jakobsen scored maximum points in the win at Newport on Sunday |
Stoke Potters bounced back from a dreadful Easter weekend by winning back-to-back meetings against Birmingham and Newport. The Potters had been beaten heavily by Rye House in their last outing. They managed to scrape past Birmingham 48-45 at Loomer Road on Saturday, with Jason Bunyan scoring 12 points. Then young Danish rider Klaus Jakobsen took a maximum of 12 points as the Potters beat Newport 55-37 at the Hayley Stadium on Sunday. Team manager John Woolridge said: "It's been a good weekend, although I felt we let a point slip against Birmingham. But the win against Newport has more than made up for it. "I think we're due a little luck, and it does even itself out over a season. But take nothing away from our lads, it was truly an all-round team display." Stoke are now up to fourth place in their group, six points behind second-placed Scunthorpe but with two matches in hand.
