Lakeside Hammers have completed the signing of Robert Mear as their number eight for the 2009 season.

The 20-year-old will act as cover for the Hammmers' reserves, alongside a full Premier League campaign with Rye House Rockets.

Mear averaged 5.93 from 35 meetings for the Hertfordshire outfit in 2008 and also made one appearance for Lakeside last season against Eastbourne.

Phil Morris and Chris Mills were named as the Hammers reserves in December.

"I'm really looking forward to the opportunity of of riding for the Hammers in the Elite League if called upon," said Mear.

"I hope the experience I gain racing for the Hammers this year will help me in my aim of progressing in the sport."

Lakeside Hammers get their Elite League campaign under way at Wolverhampton on 30 March.
