Doohan won five consecutive 500cc world titles in the late 1990s |
Five-time Moto GP world champion Mick Doohan will make a guest appearance at the 2011 Isle of Man TT races. The Australian, who won five consecutive 500cc World Championships, will complete a lap with 2010's five-time TT winner Ian Hutchinson. "To ride with Ian, who cleared up last year, is a fantastic opportunity," Doohan said. He will also start the Supersport race on Wednesday, 8 June and present the trophy to the Senior TT winner. He continued: "I'm looking forward to having a look around and seeing what these guys put themselves through. "It's renowned as being the most physically challenging and most dangerous course in the world, so to complete a lap, even at road speed will be a real experience." Doohan will complete the Arai parade lap on a Honda Fireblade. "I've seen some YouTube footage and it looks mad. I'm sure when I'm sitting in someone's front garden with a beer or a cup of nice English tea it will look even madder," he said. Only Giacomo Agostini (8) and Valentino Rossi (7), both of which have visited the TT in recent years, have won more World Championships than Doohan.
