Oxford's Bradley Smith claimed two Grand Prix wins in the 2009 season |
Oxfordshire's Bradley Smith cannot wait to take on Silverstone's new circuit in this Sunday's British MotoGP, his only home appearance of the year. Fresh from a morale-boosting display in the 125cc race at the Italian MotoGP, the teenager is growing in confidence ahead of his Silverstone debut. "I know I have the ability to win the British Grand Prix," said Smith, 19. "I'm more excited and determined than nervous because it's such an important race and so close to home." Smith is fourth in the 125cc World Championship, despite having a tough start to the season because of mechanical problems. But the Oxford-born racer is determined to make the most of the first British Grand Prix at Silverstone for 24 years. "It's a special event," he added. "And it will be tough for everybody at a brand new circuit."
