Haslam has won the last three races in the British Superbike Championship |
HM Plant Honda riders Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow will compete as wildcards in Sunday's World Superbike Championship round at Donington Park. Haslam raced in the 2004 series and has had several wildcard rides, while Crutchlow is making his debut. And Crutchlow said: "It's not a secret that I want to go onto the world stage so this will be a great opportunity." The duo are third and fourth in the British Superbike Championship, riding for the Louth-based outfit. Haslam added: "This is the biggest race of the year for me, it's on the world scene and it's my local track." The pair are also set to race in the final round of the series at Portimao in Portugal on 2 November. Other wildcard rides at Donington go to Ruskington's Rob Frost, who will be racing the Team Buff Triumph in the Supersport race, and Alford's Peter Hickman on the Ultimate Racing Yamaha in the Superstock 1000 race. Meanwhile Lincoln twins Alex and Sam Lowes will be looking for their best result of the season in the European Superstock 600 championship in which they are regular competitors.
