Cameron Donald in action during the 2007 Mid-Antrim races |
The Council of the Mid Antrim Motor Club has upheld the decision of the club's Motorcycle Committee not to run the Mid Antrim 150 road races in 2008. The council met on Wednesday night to discuss a proposal from interested parties seeking to run the event.
"It is hoped that this will end all current speculation to allow parties to look at the possibility of running the race in 2009," said a club statement.
The statement was issued on behalf of Mid Antrim Club Chairman Brian Rowan.
The committee of the club's Mid Antrim motorcycle section had voted not to run the event in 2008 after failing to resolve differences with the MCUI.
Former Mid Antrim 150 clerk of the course Jack Agnew was spearheading attempts to restore the popular Clough race to this year's road race calendar.
"I did all I could to get the race running and it's out of my hands now," Agnew told the BBC on Thursday.
"I think the club have let the people, the riders and themselves down.
"I am very disappointed and frankly disgusted by the whole thing."
