"We decided in December that we would not run any speed events this year and the members have decided to stick by that decision," said a club spokesman.

"There are still major differences with the MCUI and in the circumstances we believe it best not to stage the race."

The Mid-Antrim races may still make a return to the racing calendar in 2009.
