Cameron Donald in action during the 2007 Mid-Antrim races |
Former Mid Antrim 150 clerk of the course Jack Agnew is spearheading attempts to restore the popular Clough race to this year's road race calendar. The Mid Antrim club had voted not to run the event in 2008 after failing to resolve differences with the MCUI.
"I've done a lot of research in the last few weeks and found a big demand for the races to go ahead," said Agnew.
"I have consulted with the MCUI, club members and residents of the village so I am hopeful we will get things going."
Agnew was clerk of the course at the Mid Antrim from 1989 to 1994 but has since taken a break from organising motorcycle sport for personal reasons.
"I feel the time is right to become involved in the organisational side of things again," he said.
"I was clerk of the course for six years and would be happy to assume responsibility for this role again.
"There are a team of workers available to run the event and with a specially convened meeting of the Directors of the Mid Antrim Club being organised for next week, I hope to have good news regarding the running of this year's race."
