Coventry Bees have called on Niels Kristian Iversen to replace fellow Dane Hans Andersen for Friday's trip to Peterborough Panthers. The call-up sees King's Lynn Stars rider Iversen, 28, return to face the team he left four months ago. Iversen will ride later that evening for the Stars as they host Poole. Andersen, also a former Panther, is ruled out after breaking his foot during a training run and was expected to undergo an operation on Wednesday. The Bees are set to face Peterborough at the East of England Showground at 1100 BST before both sides head to the Midlands for the return fixture later that day at Brandon (2000 BST). Iversen will not travel with Coventry though and will instead head to Norfolk to ride for his parent club. On Andersen's injury Coventry's co-manager Alun Rossiter said: "If it's going to be a long-term situation then we would look at bringing someone in. "That should become clearer in the next day or so and hopefully it won't be too bad." Meanwhile, the Bees have signed Australian youngster Todd Kurtz to take the number eight position in their squad. The 18-year-old, who rides for Newport at both Premier and National League levels, will be the Bees' first-choice stand-by rider.
