Harvey is contesting his first season in Formula Three |
Lincolnshire's Jack Harvey had a tough opening round of the British Formula Three international series at Monza in Italy, with a best finish of 10th. The 18-year-old, making his F3 debut with the Carlin team, went out of the opening race with damaged suspension following a first-corner collision. After taking 10th in the second race Harvey came home in 17th in race three. He said: "(It was a) tough weekend. We need to work hard before Oulton Park and make it count there." The collision with Pipo Derani on the run to the first chicane in the opener meant Harvey had to start from the back of the grid for race two. But the 2010 Formula BMW Europe runner-up fought through to cross the line in 11th and earned his first point of the season after being elevated to 10th when another racer was penalised for causing a collision. The race victories went to Harvey's Carlin team-mates. with Felipe Nasr winning races one and three and Rupert Svendsen-Cook the victor in race two. Round two of the series is at Oulton Park on 23-25 April.
