Stoke Potters won their first match of the 2011 National League season, defeating Newport 50-43 on Sunday. The Potters opened up a 10-point lead after five heats and were rarely troubled by the home side. Jaimie Pickard, who competed in the British Under-21 final on Friday, scored 10 points for Stoke. Their next fixture is against Hackney at Lakeside on Friday, before their first home meeting against King's Lynn at Loomer Road on 30 April.
